“Memories Are Made In The Kitchen”
Back in 2024, I had the pleasure of working along with Ingenium and the Canadian Agriculture & Food Museum here in Ottawa, on a series of soundscapes for their 2025 exhibit entitled, “Memories Are Made in the Kitchen”.
From the memories stirred up by cooking and eating, to the traditions that are adapted over time, visitors are invited to reflect on the experiences of a wide range of communities. Through stories, photographs, artifacts, and kitchen objects, this exhibition highlights how the preparation and sharing of food can hold powerful memories and help shape new ones.
We created four soundscapes in total, that immerse the museum guests in the sounds of cooking and baking in the kitchen. The goal was to make it feel as though you are standing in the kitchen, hearing a loved one creating some of your favourite dishes right there in-front of you.
”Memories Are Made in the Kitchen” is running from June 2025 until July 2027.
